Hi, welcome to our ferrets' home on the web. We created this page to show everyone my Dad's pet ferrets. We're not sure how many he has - they just keep moving! A lot of people don't like ferrets, but we love them. Check out some the pictures in the ferret gallery and you'll soon see why....

Some people keep ferrets for catching rabbits, others like to have them as a household pet. Forget anything you have read about ferrets being dirty or smelly, they are very clean and can be a lot of fun. Ferrets can even be fashionable - they are real popular in the USA right now. Californians have pet ferrets even though it is illegal to keep them at home! If you don't believe me, click on this little convict to read about their campaign for ferret legalization in California.

So why does my Dad keep ferrets?

Well, he uses them to catch rabbits - they can be a real pest. A recent study by the British Association for Shooting and Conservation put the UK rabbit population at over 30 million. He uses the ferrets to control the rabbit population on local farms and Reay Golf Course. Ferreting doesn't have to be a solo activity, normally my Dad works with his mate Jimmy and our dog Bruce. Here is a photo of Bruce - he loves having his picture taken.

WOOF! WOOF!

Bruce and the ferrets love to eat rabbit. Sometimes Dad makes rabbit stew (yum! yum!) Then the remainder of the rabbits are sold to Douglas Mackay, our local butcher - suppliers of quality Caithness meats. He sells over the internet as well - http://www.soft.net.uk/douglasmackay
