Our Ferretting Patch

Local farmers are happy for my Dad and Jimmy to work the ferrets on their land - it helps to control the rabbit population.  He has access to large areas of farmland across the north coast of Scotland, stretching from the village of Reay in the west, to John O'Groats in the East, including the Pottinger's land at Greenland Mains near Castletown and Denny Tait's Inkstack Farm at Barrock (zoom in here).  No wonder our ferrets need a nap !!

turn sound on to hear our tired ferret snoring..zzzzzzzzzzzz

Over a season, they can take a lot of rabbits out of circulation.  Here they are in the back garden with their catch after a good day out (Jimmy on left, my Dad - Donald to you - on the right)

Sometimes, they are so keen to take a photo that they can't wait until they get home.  This photo was taken at Reay.

The photo below was taken from Greenland looking across the links towards the sand dunes and Dunnet beach.  There are normally loads of rabbits here but they all ran off when the saw my camera!

Or maybe it's because they saw Dad and Bruce watching them?
